A Tribute To The Victims Of Terrorism From 9/11/2001

The United In Memory quilt project was quite a large scale undertaking as a whole. I decided in late winter to create quilt blocks to represent six people that had died that day. I was pretty overwhelmed with the number of victims still needing blocks made to be represented, so I decided to choose all the "Daniels" and "Kevins" that were not yet represented. This is because my husband is Kevin and my son is Daniel.

The
quilt is to be seen in a traveling show, and the schedule can be found at United In Memory's website. Above each image, I have copied what I wrote on each quilt block. While I was researching each individual, it was very difficult to not get emotionally involved. Quite frankly, it was a very moving experience for me to work on these six blocks. I couldn't help but to feel that I knew the families on a personal basis when I finished.

UIM has posted the panels on their website. It is difficult to see the detail of the various blocks, but I have posted links to the panels under each individual. I have also included the Legacy.com links if you'd like to learn more about these men.

If you are a relative or friend of one of the victims listed below, I would love to hear from you!

2011: For some reason this page was edited and information about what I wrote on each block was lost.  I deeply regret this because I did put my heart into the words I added for each victim's tribute. And I see that the photogallery isn't working correctly, but if you click on the blank image, the quilt block will come up on another page.
